At Ahalia Foundation Eye Hospital , the nursing department is headed by a well trained ophthalmic nurse who has 25 + years of experience in eye care. Our nurses work independently & inter-dependently with other members of the health care team .

Nurses are distributed in various areas like operation theatre, ICU, sterilization area, ward, and OPD . There is ongoing teaching program for the nurses by doctors & senior nurses. All the nurses are specially trained in eye care as ophthalmic nurses .

In OT they deals with all the modern ophthalmic equipments in cleaning & setting up the instrument. They function as a circulating or as a scrub nurse. Circulating nurse position the patient safely & comfortably for best access. Scrub nurse who have an in-depth knowledge of ocular anatomy as well as ophthalmic procedures are assisting the doctor while doing surgeries.

ICU nurses are well trained in critical care and ophthalmic care. Ward nurses will give individual care to the patient , assist the patient in putting the eye drops and they take short classes for the patients regarding the post operative care &cleanliness of eyes.


OP nurses check the patient's vital parameters &assist the doctors in doing various examinations & procedures. They explain the patient about the details of medicines prescribed by doctors and the methods of application.
